Eid festivals in London
London’s huge diversity means there’s always a reason to celebrate. This time, London’s Muslim communities will soon be celebrating Eid al-Fitr as the 30 days of Ramadan come to an end. Although Eid falls on 5th June this year, make sure you’re around the following weekend for the public festivals. That’s because there are big festivities planned, and loads to enjoy. And everyone’s invited to join! So here are some highlights you shouldn’t miss:
Eid Festival in Trafalgar Square
First, head down to Trafalgar Square for this popular annual event. In particular, foodies will love this festival. That’s because you’ll find amazing food from London’s Muslim communities from around the world. So, there’s sure to be plenty of cuisines to sample, from north Africa to south east Asia.
But it’s not all about food, of course. If previous years are anything to go by, there’ll be all kinds of music and performances on a main stage. You’ll also find a range of cultural highlights, such as arts, crafts and poetry. And it’s a family friendly event, so there’ll be lots to keep the kids happy, too!
The festival takes place on Saturday 8th June, 12:00-18:00.
London Eid Festival
Alternatively, head over to West London. Because stylish Westfield in Shepherd’s Bush are hosting their second London Eid Festival. And judging from the last one, it’s going to be a great event. Yes, there’ll be plenty of delicious street food. And at this event there’ll also be cookery theater, so keen cooks take note!
Not only that, if you’re not a foodie, why not visit for the live entertainment, or browse the shopping stalls. And there’s also face painting – perfect for the kids.
This festival takes place on Saturday 8th 11:00-20:00, and Sunday 9th, 12:00-18:00.
How to get there: Wood Lane is the nearest tube station.
